As part of the FLEE-ASSET project, a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) on ‘Trafficking and labour exploitation in the agricultural sector: prevention and victim protection’ was created in 2025.
This course, available through the NAU platform, is one of the project's initiatives and aims to raise public awareness of labour exploitation in the agricultural sector, considering the reality of the countries participating in the project - - European countries, Spain, Italy and Portugal and Latin American countries, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. The course has been developed by the team at the University of Minho in Portugal, with the collaboration of the 10 universities associated with the project.
The four modules that make up the course are as follows:
‘Labour exploitation and human trafficking in South American agriculture: An introduction.’
"Human trafficking: Is trafficking a crime, but also a condition of production? Beyond crime: trafficking as a structural mechanism in agricultural supply chains."
‘Victims: Who pays the real price for what we eat? A look at the victims of labour exploitation and human trafficking in the South American agricultural sector.’
‘European regulations: Can Europe consume without exploiting? Laws that seek to prevent labour and human rights abuses in global supply chains.’
